ROUNDTABLE III, Budapest, Hungary Find here the presentations: Global crisis and its impact on development countries - Joanna Siwinska Impact of the financial crisis to international development cooperation - Adam Kirchknopf The politics of Crisis: beyond orthodoxy - Gabor Scheiring Policy briefs workshop - Jeff Knezovich, ODI Background The roundtable, which was held in Budapest, was part of the project led by CASE – Center for Social and Economic Research (http://www.case-research.eu/) and Overseas Development Institutute (ODI, http://www.odi.org.uk/) with the participation of the NGDO platforms from the Visegrad group (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, so called V4) and funded by the European Commission. The main objective of the project is to promote a greater understanding of the development challenges, to facilitate greater public support in New Member States for poverty reduction efforts and to contribute to more strategic and evidence-informed policy dialogue and engagement for international development issues. Introduction The primary topic of the first day was global economic crises and its impact on development policies on different level (national level both in donor and developing countries and regional, V4, level). This would be discussed through lectures and on a cross-sectoral roundtable. Invited participants of the first day are journalists, academics, governmental organisations and NGO representatives. Participants gained knowledge on global economic crises, its causes and impacts on development cooperation. Participants gained deeper understanding on different point of views: can share their ideas as donor organization, as media representative, as researcher and NGDOs. Participants gained practical knowledge how to write policy brief and will be able to use it in their advocacy work. Participants Representatives and members organizations of the national platforms of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia; NGDO representatives from the host country (Hungary); media representatives; educators; government representatives. |
