News: MOLDOVAN PRODUCERS HAVE DIFFICULTY EXPORTING TO EUROPE (20.12.2005)


CASE Moldova and CASE Poland experts presented joint research findings at a seminar on "How to increase Moldovan export potential towards the EU?" held in Chisinau on December 8. Researchers interviewed 95 Moldovan companies exporting to the EU and identified several obstacles to smooth Moldovan firm export to the EU. Poor knowledge of EU legislation, high transportation costs and custom rates were considered by the researchers to be major barriers for the Moldovan exporters. »»


Seminars and Conferences: A TRAINING COURSE ON EUROPEAN UNION’S TRADE POLICY (31.10.2005)


The two-day training course “The Trade Policy of the European Union” took place on October 2005 with the participation of the British adviser on trade and EU issues, Matthew Cocks. Mr. Cocks acts also as Adviser to Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. The course was organised by CASE Moldova Foundation with the financial support of the British Embassy Chisinau.

The training course seeks to provide the Moldovan Ministry of Economy and other relevant governmental bodies with knowledge on free-trade areas, analysis on the costs/benefits of further EU-Moldova trade liberalisation, as well as of the exact forms this can take. It also aims at developing lobbying and negotiation skills of the Moldovan Ministry of Economy in order to improve the access of Moldovan exports on the EU market.

The seminar is part of “Capacity building for further trade liberalisation between Moldova and the EU” project of the Global Opportunities Fund – Reuniting Europe Programme, of UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office.»»
