ProjectsSocial and economic impact of migration from rural areas in Moldova. Support for Moldovian public administration [July - December, 2008]
The Project under this title is financed by the Polish Aid Programme for 2008. The overall objective of the project is to create a general ‘map’ of the situation throughout Moldova with the migration and social indicators related to this phenomenon in the rural areas of Moldova. These maps together with relevant indicators shall facilitate and give arguments for various governmental programs in the social areas. The specific objectives is to give concrete tools in the hands of the specialized governmental bodies responsible for the policy in the area of poverty reduction and social areas in order to promote these policies in the rural areas. This will ensure a sustained impact on the lives of people in the rural communities from Moldova as well as specialized training on monitoring of these indicators to the project participants from the relevant institutions, responsible for the implementation of these policies. The main activities of the project will be concentrated on the comparative analysis of the data gathered in Moldova using the survey with available evidence from neighboring and other countries facing similar problems, as well as overview of the main problems and recommendations. This shall be achieved in partnership with civil society actors and governmental institutions, as well as other stakeholders. Proposed project will result in the following outcomes: (i) trainings in IT software able to map most migration-affected raions for the Moldovan central administration; (ii) report summarizing survey findings and containing detailed policy recommendations. The findings, the recommendations and foreign experience will be debated over the round table in Chisinau. In this way, the project will provide the Moldovan government tools to tackle various social and other policies addressed to fight poverty and maximize benefits (and reduce loses) from migrations. |
